The Wellness Council of Ohio is a not-for-profit corporation chartered to promote the concept of wellness at the worksite. The goal is to explain and demonstrate the beneficial effects that wellness programs can have on individuals and organizations
The Council sees itself as a major stimulus to community-wide involvement in developing dynamic wellness lifestyles. It enlists the support of the business community in particular, realizing that the workplace offers a logical and convenient opportunity to effectively present health promotion information and activities.
The Council, which is supported financially by its individual and company members, pursues its mission by providing leadership to the growing ranks of concerned and knowledgeable business executives who believe that well designed health promotion programs are a measurable benefit for individual workers, a plus for productivity, and a substantial influence in controlling health care costs.
To accomplish its mission, the Wellness Council of Ohio:
Provides a forum for community goal setting and discussion of wellness issues.
Catalyzes involvement by businesses of all sizes for worksite wellness programs.
Raises wellness consciousness through seminars and meetings.
Acts as counselor to individual businesses seeking to establish wellness programs and in other matters relating to worksite wellness endeavors.
Acts as a clearinghouse for wellness information and resources and develops plans so that this information can be shared among members and disseminated in the community.
Serves as a conduit between employers and providers in the area of wellness information and services.
